I think that we did meet the criteria for our target audience this is because of the positive feedback we got from our class, which we showed our opening sequence to. Our class understood and found out what the narrative was straight away, they wanted to watch on, but as its only an opening sequence they cant!

During our planning process we made a few changes to our narrative so that it would appeal to our target audience more. One of the changes were, we added clips of chains rattling and this created the effect that the scene would look a little more realistic and I felt that this gave the shot a big boost.

We had a quote from our class saying that our music was very original and made our opening sequence feel a little more suspense, at first we didn’t have this kind of music, but after on Garage Band we experimented with the keyboard and came out with a fantastic thriller kind of music, the audience really liked it so this is a positive thing for us.

On other quote that our class said was that at the beginning of our opening sequence at the credits, they said that the credits went on for too long and were starting to feel bored, this also had appealed to us because if we were to make something like this again we can learn from our mistakes.

Part Two - Audience for product

In our opening sequence we chose between the ages of 15 – 30, which were male. We chose those ages because the main character in our opening sequence is the same age to our generation, this means that the audience can relate to him in their real lives. We have chosen to set middle class and working class as our audience, as the main character in the opening sequence doesn’t really have a high paid job, also the film contains drugs/violence/gang references, so this is how working class and middle class link to these references. The films we expect our target audience to have watched are; Scarface, The Godfather Trilogy, Heat and Taken.

We made a survey to find information on our possible target audience. We then collected the results and analysed them to find out specifically what our target audience is interested in. Looking at what we found out, we found out that the most watched thrillers are crime thrillers and this is the sub-genre of our opening sequence. This means that our opening sequence will appeal to the target audience that we have set which was between 15 – 30 and also our opening sequence has an unclear narrative and will keep the audience occupied at all times.
