Part One - The Brief

We were asked to create an opening sequence of a thriller which would be in the duration of two minutes. We then made our pre-production planning which consisted of documents such as; Potential thriller ideas, shooting script, 5 part narrative structure. Every part of the planning was beneficial for my group as we knew exactly what we were doing once we started filming, so we were able to complete filming fairly quickly.

The title of our opening sequence is “Reloaded”. We chose this title because we believe that the title gives a hint of the narrative to the audience, which will make them want to watch to film to find out what will happen. In our opening sequence a man is found dead in a bin, and a flashback is then used to show the audience of how the man ended up dead.

The sub-genre of our opening sequence is a crime thriller. From our audience research we found that the most watched thriller was crime, which was good for our opening sequence as this was the sub-genre. We chose this sub-genre because of the nature of our narrative and it was the main sub-genre which was related to our opening sequence.
